You will not be photocopying or making tea, you will be working on real "live" projects.
For trainee developers your year will begin with a 2 week C# and SQL Server training course to enable you to hit the ground running. You will then work on real business projects. The development methodologies we utilise mean you will soon see the fruits of your labour live on the web.

During your year you will receive on-the-job coaching and mentoring from your team leader and senior developers meaning you will leave us for your final year studies as a fully fledged "Web Developer".
For "Business Projects Trainees" you will leave with a first class understanding of how project management operates in a large corporate business.

The most important aspect for us is making sure we get the right students in place as these jobs are not extra resource they are "real jobs" with measurable outputs. However, we realise that this is a two way relationship and that we need to be able to offer you the best possible placement year we can. Given a chance, would the students like to come back to RBI to work?
Yes, most definitely were all their answers. Other feedback was; thoughts are taken on board, knowledge shared and the company is always looking forward. It's dynamic, flexible, responsive and the students are proud to have learnt from the brilliant people who work here.
To what extent did the students feel that they got enough support from their team member in assisting them to perform their duties?
The overwhelming general feeling was that their colleagues gave them all the support they asked for and were very helpful, supportive, patient, and above all, they are people they now regard as friends. The placement year students said they were never made to feel like they were students on placement but were equals; in terms of decisions, joining the group in meetings and socialising, they were always involved. This is probably what has surprised and pleased the students the most as it was one of the things they said prayed on their minds beforehand. The students were here to learn and didn't initially possess the knowledge and experience of the rest of the team, but they were made to feel comfortable and as such were always eager and willing to answer any questions, without hesitation, yet without cramping them and making them feel like they are being constantly watched. Many students said this was the highlight of their year!
"The quality and amount of training given was far greater than I expected. I feel I have made a lot of progress since working for RBI and whilst I have learnt a great deal I am still learning something new every day. The initial 2 weeks training was informative and interesting and it certainly gave me the grounding I needed before tackling my placement year at RBI".
