This is a complex programme with a high number of moving parts, challenging deadlines and multiple market-leading external partners.
Responsibilities & deliverables
•Working with internal teams and external partners to deliver software using cutting-edge technology – noSQL platforms, semantic data stores and client MVC frameworks – this role will play a central role in the on-going development of a brand new online data product portfolio.
•Development is currently split between the existing development centres (Skokie, IL; East Grinstead, UK; Sutton, UK) – a key part of this role will be liaising with the existing delivery teams as we modernise the development processes and delivery methodology, focusing the development of the next-generation product portfolio (both back-office and front-office) in a new facility in the US. Development technologies for future systems will be both Java and .net with MarkLogic datastore and will be primarily web-based (i.e. very minimal - if any - thick client application development).
•This role will central to one product delivery stream, leading a development team of c. 10 staff. In addition to ensuring the development team effectively deliver software to support the business strategy, this senior role will also be responsible for promoting development best practices (e.g. continuous integration and continuous deployment), working with external development partners and suppliers and liaising with other development teams and development managers across RBI.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills
•Experience working at ‘lead’ level within an experienced and established development team.
•Experience of successfully promoting development methodologies, tools and processes.
•Proven track record of developing highly performing, n-tier, multi-client, multi-platform software applications.
•Strong software analysis and design skills with truly outstanding knowledge of OOAD, CBD and an understanding of service orientated software design.
•Previous experience with iterative/agile development methodologies.
•Experience of large scale online product development with Java J2EE and related technologies.
•Experience developing externally facing web based applications, with an emphasis on security, processing financial transactions and usability.
